Portfolio: Pier Lantern for Historic Neighborhood Entrance Signs
Marking an entrance to the Washington Highlands, an architecturally significant Wauwatosa, Wisconsin suburb on the National Register of Historic Places, are two charming stone walls with cast bronze signage and solid brass pier mounted lanterns made by Brass Light Gallery.
The Washington Highlands is one of the most architecturally significant neighborhoods in Milwaukee County. Designed in 1916 by renowned city planner Dr. Werner Hegemann, the 133 acre subdivision is filled with 14 different eclectic Revival architectural styles as well as Craftsman and Prairie style period homes and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tree lined streets, private parks, and a winding creek provide a beautiful natural setting for the exceptional residential neighborhood. Marking the entrances to the Washington Highlands are recently erected stone walls and columns with signage and lighting. The handsome markers went through an architectural review with the Washington Highlands board to ensure high quality and relevant aesthetic. Brass Light Gallery pier mounted French Country Lanterns were specified for each marker to provide elegant illumination with a durable, architecturally appropriate style.
